Welcome to Special Needs Adaptive Aquatics Programs by Swim Lesson People! We are Parker County's premier Adaptive Swim Program designed specifically for children with disabilities. Did you know that drowning is a leading cause of death for children with Autism and other disabilities? Why is this statistic so high? Children are naturally drawn to the water, especially those with Autism, Down Syndrome, and other sensory process disorders, but many children and parents underestimate the risk of an accident occurring. This is why our Adaptive Aquatics Program was born; to provide students with special needs and their parents with the knowledge and skills to safely enjoy the water.
Our Adaptive Aquatics program is exactly what it says, Adaptive! Regardless of your student’s ability, all of our Adaptive Lessons are completely individualized based on need. This includes our “Individual Aquatic Plans” outlining parent, student, and instructor goals in the water. Most of our first time swimmers begin with a survival based program where they learn critical safety and survival such as swimming independently, floating, and comfort in the water. Our more experienced swimmers can begin with adaptive stroke instruction or fitness classes improving their motor planning, coordination, and efficiency in the water. Whatever the level of your student, we can design a program to meet their individual needs.
Our instructors are highly trained and Special Ed certified. We have instructors fluent in Spanish and fluent in sign language as well as Deaf Education Certification.
We offer private one-on-one lessons, semi-private classes, and adapted group classes for children, teens, and adults with special needs. Whatever your age or swimming level, Adaptive Aquatics can help your student succeed in the water. We invite you to discover the difference with Adaptive Aquatics and give your student the gift of a lifetime of swimming!
